It’s been more than five years since Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was released, if you can believe it. Even with all of the newer fighting games taking center stage, the team-based masher has remained competitive with its loyal audience.
This year, Chris G had an emotional Marvel ride at EVO as he took a break from the Street Fighter V tournament to win the MvC3 grand finals. With all the hype surrounding that win, many started raising their hands to once again ask, “Are we ever getting an MvC4?”
It makes a lot of sense that this would be in cards since Disney owns both Marvel and ESPN. The foundation for a massive e-sports and FGC movement is right there on the table.
Well, a cryptic tweet from a well-known FGC YouTuber has some people talking:
You can’t really put too much stock into something like this, of course, but it’s interesting, and they swear that their industry source is very reliable. Only time will tell, but with all of the recent e-sports investments we’ve seen, I can’t imagine that Disney would leave money on the table.
